Today’s safety week theme is Risk Identification. It’s incredibly important to be mindful of all potential risks on job sites, as there are usually many. For today’s theme, we are featuring asbestos!
Asbestos can be extremely harmful when unrecognized in the demolition phase of a project.
What to look for: the date of the materials, asbestos was mainly used in buildings between 1940-1980. It’s most commonly found in insulation, vinyl floor tiles, cement, ceiling tiles, and textured or sprayed coatings in roofs and walls.
What to do when you think you have come across it: stop all demolition and schedule testing and proper removal.
Our crew recently had an asbestos training refresher! Thanks to JMS Environmental Associates for enlightening us on the proper identification and process!
